PARENTS
Tending the spiritual life of our family begins with us.

Parents who are able to articulate their own spirituality and are aware of their positive/negative history with spiritual paths and faith traditions will have an easier time discerning a way to build a family nest for themselves and their families. Parents who regularly use practices that center, encourage, and give life for themselves will find their children more interested in exploring developmentally appropriate practices with them.
Parents who have the support and challenge of a like-minded community will be enriched by fellow travelers.

Talking to a non-judgmental, supportive listener helps.
There are fewer organized communities today in which contemporary parents may easily find this kind of support. While many therapists
make space for spirituality in their practices, their focus is on mental health issues. Ministers, rabbis, imams, nuns and priests are available but some
of  us have had difficult or hurtful experiences in the synagogue, mosque or church. Just being able to share our thoughts, feelings, and questions about
spiritual issues with a knowledgeable and neutral professional can be a relief and an opportunity for growth.
