What Is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction assists the process of discovering the divine in daily life by offering a safe and non-judgmental active listener
with whom to explore your experiences.

A typical 60 minute session may include:
Spiritual Direction is not psychotherapy or pastoral counseling. The prime focus of our work together is your developing relationship with God. Our goal is to look together at your life for signs of Wisdom at work in healing, tending, and guiding you.

- the process of spiritual direction
- possible goals, outcomes, and resources
- any parts of your history that you want to share that relate to your understanding of the spiritual life
- anything you would like me to know about you before we begin to work together
- creating a contract, appointment scheduling, and fees
- questions you may have about my practice and/ or professional background

- Beginning and ending with silence or prayer, as you prefer.
- Talking about particular events, dreams, relationships, experiences that have stood out for you in the past month.
- Exploring the meaning, feeling, associations of the experience to your spiritual journey.
- Opening to & expressing grief, celebration, anger, gratitude that comes out of the experience.
- Using a creative practice to go deeper into the experience such as art, guided imagery, embodied prayer, silence.
- Allowing the material from the session to settle and asking for direction from your higher power or God.
- Receiving questions, additional practice ideas, possible interpretations for use in the coming month.
